What is Tonosama Frog?
Tono tree frogs inhabit Shikoku, Kyushu, and Honshu (excluding the Kanto Plain and Sendai Plain) in the plains and low mountains of ponds and paddy fields in Japan.
Females are 50-90mm taller than males, and are the largest frogs of any native species found in paddy fields.
Since it breeds from April to June, it is often seen in paddy fields.
Randomly prey on moving objects and eat insects, spiders, and rice pests.
