Taking oxygen into blood
The lungs play an important role in breathing. It works by taking in oxygen from the air into the body and discharging carbon dioxide that is no longer needed. Air drawn in through the nose and mouth passes through the larynx and enters the trachea. When the trachea enters the left and right lungs, it divides into two and becomes a bronchus. The bronchi are subdivided into smaller pieces, and a small bag of air called alveoli is attached to the end of the bronchus, like a bunch of grapes.
